Raging Bull Comes to UK
From the 12th to the 16th of August, current and 4 time World Champion, barefoot waterskiing's most decorated competitor of all time, Ron 'Raging Bull' Scarpa, will visit Great Britain. He will be training the British Barefoot Waterski Team for both the forthcoming World Championships in Austria, and Britain's biggest barefoot waterskiing spectacular ever.......'Splash of the Titans', which is taking place at John Battleday Waterski at Thorpe Park on Saturday 7th September at 3pm.
Scarpa, who is from Florida, USA, will train our finest barefoot waterskiers including David Lloyd Leisure sponsored barefooter and British Team Captain Clive Wilsdon. After a week of intensive training with the world's most famous barefoot waterskier, the British team will fly to the World Championships which take place on 23 –25 August, 2002 in Wallsee, Austria.
Meanwhile, the aptly named 'Splash of The Titans' will be the most spectacular barefoot waterski show ever seen in this country. The skiers will start at the top of a 30 foot tower, from which they will jump into the water holding a ski rope, and be pulled to speeds of around 45 mph by Mastercraft's boat 'The Beast'. The skiers, on the soles of their bare feet, will then perform a series of high calibre tricks including 360, 560 and 720 degree turns and somersaults. Then, in middle of this intense barefoot waterskiing display, they will ski up a fibre glass ramp, launching themselves to distances within an inch of 100 feet; landing on their bare feet and skiing away. They will be competing for the ultimate prize in barefoot waterskiing - £5,000 in cash.
This event is sponsored by local business Options Employment in Hounslow and General Demolition of Walton-on-Thames.
