The General Demolition British Nationals

28th July 2002

Great Britain's finest barefoot waterskiers will come together this Sunday, 4th August at Spelthorne Barefoot Waterski Club for the General Demolition Barefoot Waterski National Championships.

The competition is being run and organised by Britain's National Barefoot Coach and British Team Captain, Clive Wilsdon from Walton-on-Thames.

Records are set to come crashing down as British Champion David Small goes head-to-head with David Lloyd Leisure sponsored skier and British Team Captain Clive Wilsdon. In this competition, as the title of the event suggests, waterskiers ski in the natural way, without additives, with just the soles of their bare feet, which enable them to skim across the surface of the water at approx 45 mph. They then perform intricate manoeuvres including 360 degree turns and flips and the most exciting event of all: barefoot jumping. Skiers pass over a fibreglass ramp and fly through the air to distances just short of 100 feet - landing on their bare feet and skiing away.

Everyone is welcome to attend this epic battle of barefoot's finest athletes.

The competition starts at 12 noon and finishes around 3pm.
