HSBC Wakeboard World Cup Singapore
Expect a Carnival party atmosphere, plenty of sunshine and explosive high-flying wakeboard stunts at the 2nd HSBC Wakeboard World Cup Singapore to be held at Bedok Reservoir on Oct 22-23.
This world-class wakeboard fiesta is the biggest international watersports event held in a local reservoir and last year over 12,000 spectators packed the shoreline to watch some of the world’s greatest wakeboarders in action.
This year, 35 of the world’s top wakeboard athletes (25 men & 10 women) from 16 countries will be here to compete for USD$50,000, one of the biggest prize purse in the sport.
World and reigning X Games champion Philip Soven of the United States will be back to defend his Singapore title, while 2004 World Cup series champion Daniel Watkins, 2003 World Champion Jeff Weatherall and 2003 Asian X Games champion Bunyalo Jumruang will be eager to usurp the throne. Support Singapore’s 12-year-old sensation Sasha Christian as she takes on the world’s top female riders.
The HSBC Wakeboard World Cup Singapore is the fifth stop on the 2005 World Cup series which consists of other stops in France, Russia, Ireland and Qatar. Wakeboarding is the fastest growing watersport in the world with competitors performing flips, tricks, spins and a variety of other gravity-defying aerial stunts, sometimes as high as 20-feet in the air.
Besides exciting wakeboard action, Singaporeans can also see for the first-time - day and night performances -by the Stars of Florida, a champion water-skiing team.
