Perrott srikes twice as Teambath go through

23rd November 2008

Mike Perrott scored twice as TeamBath beat a fighting Windsor and Eton side by two goals to one at Twerton Park.

The midfielder¹s strikes in either half were enough to see off a side that had won 10 games on the bounce in all competitons going into the fixture.

TeamBath thought they had opened the scoring inside a minute, only for referee Antony Coggins to disallow Perrott¹s header from a Marc Canham corner.

Perrott then made it count seven minutes later, when his towering header from Takumi Ake¹s cross found the net via the underside of the cross-bar.

Marc Canham, who was outstanding all afternoon for TeamBath, went close to adding a second in the 33rd minute when his close range effort after Josh Llewellyn's layoff was blocked.

TeamBath continued to threaten - the lively Llewellyn headed over on 35 minutes before Sami-El Abd shot straight at keeper Rob Bullivant in the closing stages of the first half.

Perrott doubled the TeamBath lead in the 75th minute, scoring a sublime chip form 20 yards out, leaving Bullivant helpless.

The visitors pulled a goal back with five minutes remaining, when Steve Butler prodded in from close range, after TeamBath keeper Darren Chitty saved well from Jake Parsons.

Windsor and Eton almost levelled the game in the final minute - Michael Chennells had a header cleared off the line by TeamBath's Matt Lock before Chitty spectacularly denied Andrew Fagan to make it sure it was TeamBath that progressed to the next round.

TeamBath first team coach Andy Tillson was delighted with his side's response to a run of recent defeats.

"I was very important we won today. It didn¹t matter how but we  needed to get back to winning ways."

"I give the lads a lot of credit and I¹m really pleased with them², said the ex Bristol Rovers player."
