‘We must be more ruthless’ says Tillson

23rd January 2009

TeamBath FC are at full strength for Saturday’s (24th January) trip to high-flying Eastleigh in Blue Square South.

The game marks a spell of two games in four days for the University of Bath side, who also host Worcester City at Twerton Park on Tuesday (27th January), kick-off 7.45pm.

Head coach Andy Tillson is looking to build on the side’s performance at Welling in midweek, when Takumi Ake’s late goal earned them a deserved point in a 1-1 draw.

“I’m very pleased with the way we’re playing at the moment. We need to keep going out there and performing in the same way, and the results will follow,” he said.

“I thought we were excellent against Welling and we probably should have won it,” he said. “We played well on Saturday too but we got nothing out of it. We don’t want to make a habit of that. We need to play well and win games. We need to make sure we punish teams and finish them off.

“We’re probably playing better now than we were at start of the season, when we were scoring fives and sixes,” he added. “At this level you’re not going to get loads of chances, so when they come along we’ve got to be a little bit more ruthless.”

Eastleigh are currently fourth in Blue Square South, seven points and three places ahead of TeamBath. TeamBath have two games in hand. Eastleigh won 3-1 when the sides met at Twerton Park in November.

TeamBath FC are without a league game the following weekend – on Saturday 31st January. They were due to travel to Havant and Waterlooville, but the game has been postponed as Havant have an FA Trophy fixture that weekend.

TeamBath FC is sponsored by Ted Baker and Kukri.
