Edgbaston Priory were crowned new National Club Champions breaking Pontefract’s impressive run, as Colets claim yet another Men’s National Title.

Leonie Holt and her team from Edgbaston have finally wrestled the Championship from Pontefract. Julianne Courtice started with a comfortable 3-0 win over Grace Smith, Lottie Eriksen then made it 2-0 to Edgbaston with a 3-0 against Katie Smith.

The pressure fell onto Kirsty McPhee who faced Leonie Holt. This was a battle and a very hard fought match, Holt seemed to have that little bit extra in the tank as the game went into the 5th. Holt taking it and winning the Women’s National Club Championships for Edgbaston Priory before Pontefract’s big hitters had a chance to do any damage.

Colets retained their Men’s National Title to make it a hat trick of victories this weekend.

After collecting the Men’s Over 35 and Over 45 titles this weekend, the boys from Surrey didn’t want to stop. Led by Nick Matthew, they were simply too strong for the young Pontefract side.

Drew faced Cordell, and although Cordell came close to taking a couple of games it turned out to be a 3-0 victory for Drew, and Ewins made it 2-0 for Colets with a 3-0 win against Sam Wileman.

Nick Matthew was given the opportunity to wrap things up for Colets and you couldn’t have asked for a better player to rely on. The World Number 6 proved too strong for Pontefract’s Saurav Ghosal, winning 3-0 and the title for Colets.
