British archer Simon Terry is within one match of winning a medal at the first FITA World Cup event of the season.

Simon, a World Cup Grand Final silver medalist last year, takes on Frenchman Jean-Charles Valladont for the bronze medal on Saturday, after losing his semi-final to American Vic Wunderle.

The only British archer to progress further than the last 32, Simon beat the 2007 World Cup Grand Final gold medalist Baljinima Tsyrempilov of Russia in the quarter-finals before meeting his match against Wunderle.

Of the other British competitors, Larry Godfrey made it through to the second round, before losing to Tsyrempilov, while Jonathan Shales and Mark Nesbitt both fell at the first hurdle.

In the women's recurve event, Charlotte Burgess and Naomi Folkard both made it past the first round, but tumbled out of the tournament in the round of 32.

Amy Oliver failed to carry her impressive qualifying form into the head-to-head stages, as she went out in the first round, losing to Latvia's Zane Berzina.
