Archery GB will have 12 potential champions seeking to be the continent's best, when they take part at the European Target Championships at Rovereto in Italy, this week.

Britain's hopefuls will be among 295 archers from 38 countries chasing medals from Wednesday onwards, when qualfication follows two days of practice, and the official opening ceremony on Tuesday evening.

Fresh from their medal winning successes at the first FITA World Cup event of the season in Porec, Simon Terry and Nicky Hunt are among the GB 12, along with Andrea Gales, Duncan Busby and Larry Godfrey, who enjoyed domestic success earlier this month, with victories at the first National Series tournament of the year.

Nicky and Andrea will be joined by Nichola Simpson in the women's compound championship, while teenager Mark Nesbitt will be looking to impress the watching Olympic Coach Lloyd Brown when he teams up with Simon and Larry in the men's recurve.

In women's recurve, Amy Oliver will be looking to turn her impressive form so far this year into a chase for medals in Italy, and she will be teaming up with Charlotte Burgess and Naomi Folkard.

And in the men's compound tournament, Duncan will be joined by James Bingham and Andy Rikunenko, with Performance Manager Barry Eley enthusing about a strong GB line-up.

"It's a good squad, all of them are shooting well, and have every reason to be upbeat about their prospects," said Barry. "This is a big year for everyone, with the World Cup Final taking place in Edinburgh, and the Commonwealth Games coming up in October, so there is all to play for, and it should be an exciting week."
