Sam Bell from Middlesbrough won the learning difficulty event at the inaugural ETTA qualification competition for the Sainsbury’s UK School Games (SUKSG), being held in Sunderland from 2-5 September 2010. Sam pipped Jordan Abbott from Widnes to the winners medal without dropping a match in the competition.
In the Wheelchair event Jack Hunter Spivey from Halton also secured top slot beating Nicko Anderson from Northholt who took the silver medal.
Development funding linked to the UKSG supported a training day at the EIS in Sheffield for all the young disabled players eligible to attend the Sainsbury’s UK School Games. It is hoped that the event will become a regular fixture in the competition calendar. www.ukschoolgames.com
