British Teams Set for Start of World Championships

The British Gas GBR Synchro, Diving, Water Polo and Open Water teams are making their final preparations on the eve of the 15th FINA World Championships in Barcelona.

The first British athlete in action will be Jenna Randall in the heats of the synchronised swimming technical solo event on Saturday 20th July in the Paula Sant Jordi pool.

The British Gas GBR Synchronised Swimming team are also competing in the duet and team disciplines.

Randall will be followed by divers Alicia Blagg and Rebecca Gallantree as they take on the heats of the 3m Synchro diving in the picturesque Piscina Municipal de Montjuic venue along with Jack Laugher and Chris Mears in the 1m Synchro.
 
Following the springboard pairing will be European silver medallists, Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow in the 10m Platform event on Monday.
 
Sunday will see the British Gas GBR Women’s Water Polo team returning to the World Championships stage for the first time in 10 years. They take on Canada in the first of their four group matches at the Piscines Bernat Picornell.
 
The Water Polo team will also face reigning World Champions Greece and Olympic Gold medallists, USA.
 
On Monday, Open Water specialist Dan Fogg will lead the British charge in the 10km Marathon swim.

Fogg, who won his first international gold medal for open water earlier this year at the FINA World Cup in Mexico, has been making his final preparations to take on the World Class field in the Moll de la Fusta.
 
Finally, reigning Champion Keri-anne Payne will also take to the water on Tuesday in the Women’s 10km Marathon event.
