Fallon WinsGold at Prague 'A' Tournament

World and European silver medallist, Craig Fallon has won gold at the Prague A Tournament for Men this weekend.

Fallon (21) of Wolverhampton, picked up the gold medal in the –60kg weight category by beating Nazaryan of Armenia. Earlier he had beaten Yekutiel of Israel in the semi final and Hiraoka of Japan in the quarter final by the maximum Ippon score.

The Prague A Tournament is a top ranked Olympic qualifying event, however Fallon has already automatically qualified the Olympic place in his weight category by winning silver at the World Championships in Japan last year.

The British Women were also in Europe at the weekend competing in the Warsaw A Tournament for Women. The Warsaw tournament is another Olympic qualifying event, which saw the players trying to earn vital qualification points. Sophie Cox, kept her Olympic dreams alive by clinching the bronze medal in the –57kg weight category, beating Gasimova of Azerbaijan.

Former European Champion, Georgina Singleton, who has also qualified the Olympic place at the World Championships, finished 5th in the –52kg weight category. Sarah Clark finished 9th in the –63kg weight category, Michelle Rogers and Rachel Wilding both finished 7th in the –78kg weight category and Simone Callender won the bronze medal in the +78kg weight category by beating Polauder of Slovenia.
